Cheeseburger Pie

Note: I got this recipe from a girl I met while I was in Germany. It is so good and so easy to make.

Pastry crust, 9”
1 lb. ground beef
1 tsp. salt
¼ tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. oregano
½ cup fine dry bread crumbs
1 8oz. Can tomato sauce
1 small onion, chopped
½ cup chili sauce
½ tsp. baking soda

Cheese topping: 2 eggs, ¼ cup milk, ½ tsp. each of salt, dry mustard and Worchershire sauce. Add 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (8oz.)
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry. In skillet put ground beef and brown. Drain fat. Stir in salt, oreganok, pepper, crumbs, ½ cup of tomato sauce, baking soda, onions and green pepper. Pour into pastry ined pie pan. Spread cheese topping evenly over filling. Cover the edges with 2-3” foil. Remove the foil the last 15 minutes of baking. Bake 30 minutes. Remaining tomato and chili sauce may be served with the pie.
