Momma’s Fried Chicken
Note: This is my moms recipe. I loved when she made her Fried Chicken…but now with all the options out there to get fried chicken…I find myself not cooking this…not to mention the smell fried foods leave in the house. Though now that I’m coming across it …. I’m hungry for her Fried Chicken. I have an electric two burner that I use outside…I think I’ll have to put this on my list of things to cook this week.
½ cup milk
½ tsp. salt
1 chicken, cut up and seasoned
2 cups flour
Mix egg and milk together, season. Season flour and put in paper bag or bowl.
Pass the chicken pieces in egg and milk mixture then in the flour. Be sure to cover all parts of the chicken thoroughly.
Cook pieces at 375 degrees in deep fryer about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Drain pieces on a paper towel.
If you don’t own a deep fat fryer, use a skillet and put about 1 inch of oil. Be sure to heat your oil on a medium high heat.
Test with a small piece to make sure the oil is hot. Cook about 13 minutes on either side. Check to make sure it’s fully cooked before taking out of the oil.
