Rhona’s Meatloaf

Note: Rhona, my mother-in-law, made this recipe. I wasn’t sure about the can of Dawn’s mushroom and steak sauce…..but it does make a great gravy!  My husband loved his moms meatloaf so I needed to give it a try.  I’m glad I did!

2 lbs. ground beef
2 eggs
Bread crumbs
Salt, black and red pepper , to taste
1 can Dawn’s Mushroom and Steak Sauce
Fresh mushrooms, cut up (optional)

Mix the eggs, bread crumbs and seasonings together. Add the ground beef and mix well.
Place in a baking dish. Bake for about 30 minutes. You may need to add a little water at the bottom of the pan.
About 20 minutes before done add 1 can of Dawns Steak and Mushroom sauce. Then cook not covered until the loaf reaches 170 degrees.

NOTE: Sometimes I cook this on the stove instead. I brown all sides of the meatloaf, then add cut up onions, peppers and garlic. Then I add the can of Dawn’s sauce and cook until done, adding water or beef broth, if needed.
